The Workshop

The Beyond Impact project is centred around a workshop that was held between 9 and 11 May 2011 at the Wellcome Trust in London. The workshop included US and European research funders, researchers from across the globe, as well as data and service providers, and scholarly publishers. The workshop was in two parts, the first was a series of discussions to identify opportunities and barriers in the aggregation, analysis, and measurement of research outputs. The second part was a development sprint focussed on delivering demonstrators and documentation showing what can be done today and what barriers exist to more sophisticated and general tools. The programme is available along with the workshop report.

Outputs from the workshop include reports on opportunities on barriers, working code available for deployment and improvement by interested parties, and an ongoing conversation amongst the relevant stakeholders on how to take these opportunities forward both in the local UK context in more widely.
